First Movies has extensive experience in creating bespoke, tailor-made research solutions to address the more specific needs and questions not catered for within our standard, core services.

Our bespoke experience has included the following broad areas of investigation, with each study uniquely designed in consultation with our clients. A blend of standard (norm-able) measures can be incorporated – or question areas can be completely re-designed to best address a specific issue or respondent-type.

  • Resistance / Opening Weekend Studies – to quickly and efficiently find answers and identify the factors at play when a film (or a competitive title) performs differently to expected
  • Generic Studies – pan industry ‘event’ studies, to gain insight and understanding of emerging markets, specific consumer groups (such as teens) or industry issues (such as Piracy or sources of awareness)
  • Promotions Assessment – gauging the impact and ROI cost effectiveness of film-related promotions (such as Orange Wednesdays) or product partner advertising (such as on-pack promotions)
  • Pre-screening studies – First Movies can take advantage of audience arrival time by gaining valuable insight into key areas of intrigue, expectations and party composition
  • POS audits – First Movies have designed International studies assessing placement and impact of in-cinema POS and bringing to light Exhibitor issues and the factors which directly influence the placement and use of this important advertising medium
  • Assessing Interactive Standees – measuring the impact of innovative advertising, through a combination of footfall, respondent interaction observations and follow-up depth interviews

First Movies also employs a range of innovative, tailor-made methodologies, to deliver more actionable results and information:

  • Online diaries – which can be accessed in real time, with the ability to ask participants instant questions and gain on-the-spot feedback
  • Recruiting, hosting and managing online panels, particularly with niche or 'hard-to-find' demographic groups
  • Portable video devices which enable recruiters to show trailers / creative materials to respondents – either for instant feedback or as part of a screening recruit (indeed, recruit can be split into exposed / non-exposed samples)
  • Online focus groups - conduct groups anywhere, anytime without the need to travel
